Also called: Record of rights (north-west India), Nakal jamabandi
The record of rights for land in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir, listing owners, cultivators, shares and area for each holding.
How it works and what to check
The jamabandi is prepared periodically by the patwari and updated by mutations in between. It records the khewat (ownership account), khatauni (cultivation account), khasra (field) numbers, the owners and their shares, and the area, often in kanal and marla or bigha and biswa.
A certified copy is called a fard in Punjab and Haryana. Most of these states let you view the jamabandi online.

To confirm who owns and cultivates land, their shares and the area, before a sale, loan or partition.
How do I get a jamabandi copy?
From the state land records portal or the patwari or tehsil office, as a certified copy (fard).
