What is Fard?

Also called: Fard jamabandi, Nakal

In Punjab and Haryana, a certified copy of a land record, usually the jamabandi, issued by the revenue department or a fard centre.

How it works and what to check

Buyers, banks and sub-registrars ask for a recent fard to confirm the owners and area before a sale or loan. It can usually be obtained online or from a fard centre at the tehsil.

To prove the current entries in the land record when registering a sale, applying for a loan or in court.

Is fard proof of ownership?

It is a certified copy of the revenue record. Title still rests on the registered deeds.
