One room and kitchen: a single room with a separate kitchen or kitchenette and a bathroom, smaller than a 1 BHK. Common in Mumbai, Pune and other dense cities.
How it works and what to check
A 1RK suits a single person or a couple on a budget. The kitchen may be a separate small room or a corner, and the bathroom may be inside or shared in older buildings, so read the listing carefully.
Common questions
What is the difference between 1RK and 1 BHK?
A 1 BHK has a separate bedroom and living room; a 1RK has one room plus a kitchen.
Is 1RK the same as a studio?
Close. A studio usually combines the kitchen into the main room; a 1RK often has the kitchen separate.
