What is Biswa?

Also called: Biswansi (a smaller sub-unit)

A land unit that is a fraction of a bigha, used in north India. Because the bigha varies, so does the biswa.

How it works and what to check

Biswa is used in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan. Its size is not the same everywhere: it differs from state to state and often from district to district, so this site does not convert it to a single figure. Take the area in square feet, square metres or acres from the revenue record or the deed instead.
