Confirms the building was constructed to the approved plan. Often issued alongside the occupancy certificate.
How it works and what to check
The completion certificate is the local body's confirmation that construction followed the sanctioned plan, setbacks and height limits. In some states the same document is called a building completion certificate, and in some the occupancy certificate does both jobs.
Be careful with the abbreviation: in Maharashtra, CC often means commencement certificate, the permission to start building, which is a different document.
Common questions
Is a completion certificate the same as an occupancy certificate?
No, though they are often issued together. Completion confirms the building matches the plan; occupancy permits it to be used.
Does CC always mean completion certificate?
No. In Maharashtra CC usually means commencement certificate, issued before construction starts. Read the document title.
