A three-digit credit score from 300 to 900 issued by TransUnion CIBIL, one of India's credit bureaus. Lenders use it, with scores from other bureaus, to decide on a loan and its rate.
How it works and what to check
The score reflects your repayment history, credit utilisation, the mix of loans and recent enquiries. Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark also issue scores.
Check your report before applying for a home loan and dispute errors with the bureau. Late EMIs and card payments do the most damage.
Common questions
What CIBIL score is needed for a home loan?
Each lender sets its own cut-off and price bands; a higher score usually gets a better rate.
