Also called: Bhu-Aadhaar, Unique Land Parcel Identification Number
Unique Land Parcel Identification Number, also called Bhu-Aadhaar: a 14-character code for each land parcel, generated from its geographic coordinates.
How it works and what to check
ULPIN is being rolled out under the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme. The code carries the state, district, sub-district and village and a parcel identifier, so the same plot can be traced across revenue, registration and survey records.
Coverage differs by state. Where your land has one, note it alongside the survey or khasra number, and check that the records it links to agree.
Common questions
Is ULPIN the same as Bhu-Aadhaar?
Yes. Bhu-Aadhaar is the popular name for the Unique Land Parcel Identification Number.
Does ULPIN prove ownership?
No. It identifies the parcel. Ownership comes from the registered deeds and the record of rights.
